दातामुखी कृषि रणनीति

खस्कँदो कृषिको अवस्थासँगै यसको भविष्यबारे केही चिन्ता, चासो र चर्चा बढ्न थालेको छ। यसैबीच २० वर्षे दीर्घकालीन कृषि योजनाको म्याद सकिनै लाग्दा सरकारले १० वर्षे कार्ययोजनासहितको २० वर्षे कृषि विकास रणनीति बनाउन थालेको एक वर्षभन्दा बढी भइसकेको छ। एसियाली विकास बैंक र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय कृषि विकास कोषको प्राविधिक सहायता र लगानीमा यो रणनीति बनाउने काममा विदेशी तथा स्वदेशी परामर्शदाता संलग्न छन्।
नेपाली किसानको भविष्यसँग जोडिएको कृषि रणनीति बनाउने कुरालाई जति गम्भीरतापूर्वक सोचिनुपर्ने हो, यसतर्फ धेरैको ध्यान पुग्न सकेको देखिँदैन। नीति निर्माणमा जनसमुदायको अर्थपूर्ण सहभागिता लोकतन्त्रको मर्म हो तर विडम्वना अहिले सरकारी कर्मचारीतन्त्र, दातृ समूह र परामर्शदाताहरु लोकतन्त्रभन्दा माथि छन्। उनीहरुले यस्ता योजना बनाउँदा कसैसँग सरोकार वा समन्वय गर्नुपर्ने ठान्दैनन् भने राजनीतिक नेतृत्व यो प्रकृयामा बेखबर छ, त्यसैको नमुना हो- बन्दै गरेको कृषि विकास रणनीति।

Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS): Work resumes on drafting 10-year farm plan

Work has resumed on drafting the Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) as a prolonged dispute between representatives of the farmers and the government has come to an end. According to officials, two of the four vital phases in the ADS project—Assessment and Vision—were completed recently.
The ADS steering committee has planned to collect comments from stakeholders and farmer organisations by Sept 15 to prepare a policy option report, which is the third phase of the project. The report will be prepared by the end of September. It will then be submitted to the Agriculture Ministry for its approval to prepare the country’s agriculture roadmap for the next 10 years.

Nepali agro-scientists bag US award


NEW YORK, SEP 01 -
The Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI), a US-based organisation, has decided to confer BGRI Gene Stewardship Award 2012 on a group of agriculture scientists of Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC).
Sarala Sharma, Deepak Bhandari, Dhruba B Thapa, Madan Bhatta and Nutan Gautam are the recipients of this award, which will be given away amid a ceremony in Beijing on September 2.
Established in memory of Noble Laureate Norman Borlaug, who fought against world hunger, the award recognises a researcher or a team of researchers serving a national breedingprogramme or other nationally based institutions.
